DT Reynaldo Rios (NO) goes #1 overall! NEW YORK -- The New Orleans Reapers drafted Reynaldo Rios #1 overall in the 2076 draft. The 6' 1" DT fits the team's needs perfectly. Said Reapers general manager: "It's up to us to develop him and get good players around him."
"The great thing about the game of football is, it's a team game," Rios said on a conference call. "I'm just going to be one piece of the puzzle."
Moore and Nox Mock DraftPick 1: New Orleans Reapers Larry Moore: Toby Espinosa - LB A leader on the field and in the locker room. Known for showing up early and staying late. Teammates love him. All he cares about is the team. He helps everyone succeed. Closing speed good enough to get to the Quarterback often. Shows good understanding of his assignments on the field. Nothing to think about here. Pick up the kid, bring him into the building, put him om the field.
Jim Nox: Matthew Meyers - CB Is fast enough to be asked to cover most receivers and deliver good results. Fill the need with a quality player. Best case scenario here.
Pick 2: Toronto North Larry Moore: Reynaldo Rios - DT Sufficiently strong to bull rush. Not the strongest, but strong enough to stay on his feet against inside runs. On tape you clearly see that he is a good tackler. The stars align for them to get him here. Just what they need. Blue-chip player with great upside. Hard to botch this pick.
Jim Nox: Toby Espinosa - LB A leader on the field and in the locker room. This kid is not afraid to work hard. In addition to his own role, this kid doubles as glue. He makes everyone on the field play as a team. People watching his tape often do not notice his speed. It is not something that jumps out at you, but he is pretty fast. If you watch the tape again, you can see he plays with nice instincts. Fans, coaches, and teammates alike will be ecstatic to get him on the team. He fits what they need, he is such a great talent. Everything lines up.
Pick 3: Windsor Gamblers Larry Moore: Simon Curry - DE Plug a hole in the roster with a great player. That is really what they need to do. This pick does it.
Jim Nox: Simon Curry - DE They should not be afraid to fill a need here. He will start day one. Quality pick right here.
Pick 4: Seattle Totems Larry Moore: Hugh Bordelon - C With this guy on the team, they will have to buy extra weights. He is just that strong. His pass blocking skills are definitely adding to his value. He will need to hold his own against fully grown men, and teams believe he can do that. Well schooled in the game, and it shows on the field. He fills a need for them. They will be happy to get him.
Jim Nox: Hugh Bordelon - C Did you see him bench press?! Wow! Something that scouts highight is how well he pass blocks. You do not pick him this high if he could not protect the QB. Knowledgeable of the game. They need him now. Well yesterday actually. They will love him tomorrow. They will revere him by the end of his career.
Pick 5: Nova Scotia Vikings Larry Moore: Matthew Meyers - CB Is fast enough to be asked to cover most receivers and deliver good results. They will be running to the podium for this one.
Jim Nox: James White - LB Respected for his good behavior on the field. People watching his tape often do not notice his speed. It is not something that jumps out at you, but he is pretty fast. Once this kid gets in the building, they will be set at this position for years.
Pick 6: Houston RoughRiders Larry Moore: James White - LB This is the kind of kid you want to promote the game. Well behaved, loves the game, and respectful. While not elite, his speed is good enough to deliver pressure and keep contain. He will get a great chance to earn the starting job. He fits what they are looking for. He is a solid player. Cannot go wrong here.
Jim Nox: Gregory Lyon - LB Can bull rush smaller Tight Ends and Fullbacks when blitzing. Coaches love this kind on their Linebackers. It is not often that the talent available fits perfectly with what you need. When it does, it makes for a win-win situation. This young man is going to be put in a position to succeed.
Pick 7: BCFC Bears Larry Moore: Kieth Nance - LB This young man can hold his own in the weight room. And he is strong enough to hold his own on the field as well. Solid talent that fits their needs. Really that is all there is to it. Perfect situation. Take the money and run.
Jim Nox: Kieth Nance - LB Strength is definitely one of his premier qualities. It will serve him well. It is all about fit here. Is there a guy at a position of need, worthy of a pick this high? The answer, obviously, is 'heck yeah'.
Pick 8: Memphis Pharaohs Larry Moore: Jason Ruiz - DT Powerful enough to shed blocks and free himself up to make plays in the running game. Can be relied upon to understand his role on any given play. Plug a hole in the roster with a great player. That is really what they need to do. This pick does it.
Jim Nox: Reynaldo Rios - DT Dominated using his strength in college. In the pros he will face fully grown men, but he should be up for the challenge. Tackles with good leverage. Rarely lets people go. Fill the need with a quality player. Best case scenario here.
Pick 9: New Orleans Reapers Larry Moore: Dennis Chavez - G He is fundamentally a good kid. You rarely see him commit stupid penalties. Smart player. Good understanding of how plays develop, and where to be. They need players at the position, and good ones at that. He fits the bill, he is worth the pick. End of story.
Jim Nox: Dennis Chavez - G He is driven by the love of the sport. Well schooled in the game, and it shows on the field. They would be crazy not to take him here. A great fit, both in terms of what they need and the quality of player they get. This will put a smile on many faces.
Pick 10: Toronto North Larry Moore: Steven Lovell - WR Will hold onto the ball if he gets his hands on it. Good understanding of the game, and what is required of each position. He addresses a need for them.
Jim Nox: Steven Lovell - WR Has the ability to contend for the ball even in tight coverage. He is alert and reacts well on the field. Some might say this is a 'need' pick, but we must remember, this is a really good player as well. He will contribute early and often. No losers here.
