Moore and Nox Mock Draft

Pick 1: Houston RoughRiders
Larry Moore: Thomas Cardenas - CB
Known among his teammates as a bit of a goofball, but never in a bad way. The kind that keeps spirits high even when a season goes south. This is a kid who tackles well. He can do what they want. He will deliver results early. He fits a need. End of story.

Jim Nox: Nestor Masterson - LB
The ultimate team player. Sportsmanship, love of the sport and respect, is what you get with him. Liked by coaches and teammates. Finishes tackles well. Makes smart decisions. When the available talent fits what you need, there is reason to celebrate. They are getting a great talent who will serve them for many years.

Pick 2: Toronto North
Larry Moore: William Logan - QB
Knows what it takes to achieve success at any level. He does not get fooled by coverages often. Already making good throws, and that is even with no seasons of pro training. He fills a hole at the position. Blue-chip player. Will fit right in and start right away. Love it.

Jim Nox: William Logan - QB
This kid puts in the work. He understands playing offense at the pro level. Makes nice throws. Fill a need, get a quality player, everyone wins! He will fit right in with the pros.

Pick 3: Memphis Pharaohs
Larry Moore: Thomas Tyree - DT
Teammates love him. All he cares about is the team. He helps everyone succeed. This is a young man who has enough strength to steamroll offensive linemen. Nothing strikes fear into a Quarterback like seeing your center on the ground in front of you. Not really a speed rusher. But still among the faster DTs. Enough explosiveness to get the the Quarterback, and that is all you need really. Tackles low and with good technique. Do not be afraid to draft a position of need here. This kid is well worthy of a pick this early. Perfect situation for him, and great fit for the team.

Jim Nox: Thomas Tyree - DT
He helps everyone get in the right position, making the team run as a well oiled machine. Imagine having that kind of strength consistently blowing through the middle. I can, scouts can, and coaches can. With this kind of physique, many teams would love to have him. This young man is explosive enough to pressure Quarterbacks up the middle. He has above average closing speed. He is a well developed tackler, this is something teams look for. It saves a lot of time when the fundamentals are good. Take the blue-chip player. Do not worry about sexier picks. He fits what you need and the quality is there.

Pick 4: Windsor Gamblers
Larry Moore: Trey Greene - T
A player that fits their needs. The promise of a future star. This will be great for the franchise.

Jim Nox: Trey Greene - T
They need him now. Well yesterday actually. They will love him tomorrow. They will revere him by the end of his career.

Pick 5: Nova Scotia Vikings
Larry Moore: David Carrier - WR
A leader on the field and in the locker room. This kid breeds synergy, teams play better when he is on the field. Rarely drops the ball. He plays faster than his forty might indicate. He will get a great chance to earn the starting job. He fits what they are looking for. He is a solid player. Cannot go wrong here.

Jim Nox: David Carrier - WR
Not afraid to lead. He helps everyone get in the right position, making the team run as a well oiled machine. When you watch him you rarely see him drop the ball. Is too speedy for most safeties in man coverage and will blaze through zones, forcing the defense to be on their toes. Plug a hole in the roster with a great player. That is really what they need to do. This pick does it.

Pick 6: New Orleans Reapers
Larry Moore: David Smith - SS
This is the kind of kid you want to promote the game. Well behaved, loves the game, and respectful. He has been trained well, and it shows in the way he tackles. great technique. Consistently makes good decisions on the field. A player that fits their needs. The promise of a future star. This will be great for the franchise.

Jim Nox: Alonso Baron - TE
His college coaches talk highly of his work ethic. The guy has gets along with everyone. Nice speed for a Tight End. Enough to contribute in the passing game. They should not be afraid to fill a need here. He will start day one. Quality pick right here.

Pick 7: Seattle Totems
Larry Moore: Alonso Baron - TE
Here you have a kid who puts in the work to succeed. Known among his teammates as a bit of a goofball, but never in a bad way. The kind that keeps spirits high even when a season goes south. More than enough speed to create separation. I am looking forward to watching him develop. Plug a hole in the roster with a great player. That is really what they need to do. This pick does it.

Jim Nox: Andrew Joiner - TE
The kind of leadership he shows makes coaches salivate. Blue-chip player. Exactly what they look for. Add a young talent to a roster thin at the position, a great fit.

Pick 8: BCFC Bears
Larry Moore: Brian Rhoades - G
His college coaches talk highly of his work ethic. In college, he routinely threw defenders off their feet when blocking them. Watch the tape, this kind is strong. This kid is already a pretty good blocker in the running game. He will only get better as he refines his technique. Do not be afraid to draft a position of need here. This kid is well worthy of a pick this early. Perfect situation for him, and great fit for the team.

Jim Nox: Brian Rhoades - G
Known among his teammates as a hard worker. With the amount this youngster can already benchpres, he will only ever have to focus on improving technique. If you go to his tape, you will se he run blocks very well. With this kid, this is a need pick they will not regret.

Pick 9: Houston RoughRiders
Larry Moore: Nestor Masterson - LB
He plays well with others. He understands there is a reason for each assignment on every play. Respected for his good behavior on the field. He takes care of his teammates. Most everyone who ever played with him, counts him as their friend. Finishes tackles well. You do not need to tell him things twice. Very quick learner. Fans might not be on board with what can be framed as a need pick. But trust me once they see this kid play, they will be more than happy.

Jim Nox: Thomas Cardenas - CB
Liked by coaches and teammates. A great tackler. Consistent. Rock solid player is just what they need. A great fit here, both in terms of need and quality.

Pick 10: Toronto North
Larry Moore: Fred Pagan - T
This is a young man who will bench press a Defensive Tackle, and not a small one! This is a guy who is already a pretty good blocker in the run game. If you watch the tape again, you can see he plays with nice instincts. The stars align for them to get him here. Just what they need. Blue-chip player with great upside. Hard to botch this pick.

Jim Nox: Fred Pagan - T
He has the strength to throw defenders around, and not just the linebackers. In the run game he blocks well, shows tenacity and opens lanes. This will benefit the team. Shows keen understanding of the game. They will be happy to get him, they could use an upgrade at the position, and he certainly fits the bill. A franchise caliber player. Just what they have been looking for.

Coaching Carousel Predictions.

The offseason is upon us and that means teams are shaking up their coaching staffs. This means that we get to take our annual look at coordinators who could make the leap to become head coaches, and the teams who are likely to poach them.

The prime candidates identified by our experts are:
John Donovan - Defensive Coordinator - New Orleans Reapers
Raymond Means - Defensive Coordinator - Windsor Gamblers
Eugene Ayala - Offensive Coordinator - Nova Scotia Vikings
Christopher Rivera - Defensive Coordinator - Toronto North
David Rupert - Offensive Coordinator - New Orleans Reapers
Richard Morrison - Offensive Coordinator - Memphis Pharaohs
Everette Sweeney - Offensive Coordinator - Windsor Gamblers

To Rene Steiner - LB, the past is the past.

Rene Steiner is a great story, having worked his way out of a troubled youth. To many, Steiner is becoming a posterboy for the league's ability to help talented young men rehabilitate themselves through sports.

Jacob Venegas - P under criminal investigation!

It looks like the off field troubles of Jacob Venegas have finally caught up with him. Local news reports that a criminal investigation has been launched looking into previous criminal misconduct of Venegas. The league has reiterated that standard policy is to await results from the criminal investigation before deciding on any punishment.
