The 6' 3" DT fits the team's needs perfectly. Said Gamblers general manager: "It's up to us to develop him and get good players around him."
"The great thing about the game of football is, it's a team game," Washington said on a conference call. "I'm just going to be one piece of the puzzle."Moore and Nox Mock DraftPick 1: Windsor Gamblers Larry Moore: Warren Washington - DT Not afraid to lead. I want this kid on my team. He understands his role on the field, and how it fits in with what everyone else is doing. It is no coincidence he has attracted a lot of attention. This kid can bench press offensive linemen on his way to the Quarterback. He addresses a need for them.
Jim Nox: Warren Washington - DT Teammates look to him for leadership, and he consistently delivers. If you ask around, everyone will tell you, this kid is all about the team. This guy is hard to move. In college, he would routinely just throw blockers on the ground on his way to the Quarterback. You need him, just get him already.
Pick 2: New Orleans Reapers Larry Moore: Oscar Demers - DT Need a leader? He is your guy. The guy has his head on straight. Teammates love him. All he cares about is the team. He helps everyone succeed. Nice closing speed once he gets penetration. Forces QBs from the pocket. Rock solid player is just what they need. A great fit here, both in terms of need and quality.
Jim Nox: Oscar Demers - DT Coaches love the leadership skills in this kid. Knows what it takes to achieve success at any level. Football is a team sport, and he knows it. Good jump off the line. Enough speed to be unpredictable in his passrushing moves. He fills a need for them. They will be happy to get him.
Pick 3: Houston RoughRiders Larry Moore: Terry Rice - LB Would occasionally flatten offensive linemen in college. Even in the pros, opponents better not try to block him with a Tight End or Running Back. Is speedy enough to stay on the field in passing situations. This guy is available. This guy fills a need. They have to take him. It makes so much sense.
Jim Nox: Terry Rice - LB Not the strongest, but strong enough. Can maintain his leverage and shed blocks. Is speedy enough to stay on the field in passing situations. It is not often that the talent available fits perfectly with what you need. When it does, it makes for a win-win situation. This young man is going to be put in a position to succeed.
Pick 4: BCFC Bears Larry Moore: Dean Johnson - G Football is a team sport, and he knows it. Not the strongest we have seen, but definitely strong enough to hold his own. His pass blocking skills is something teams like about him. Coaches like his instincts. Fill a need, get a quality player, everyone wins! He will fit right in with the pros.
Jim Nox: Justin Richard - T Has nice technique when blocking on run plays. Keeps his leverage and finishes his blocks. Knowledgeable of the game. They need playmakers at this position. This is what they are getting here. Solid pick.
Pick 5: Memphis Pharaohs Larry Moore: Kevin Penny - CB The guy has his head on straight. His good natured behavior, even toward opponents have earned him some criticism, but also an awful lot of respect. They will be happy to get him, they could use an upgrade at the position, and he certainly fits the bill. A franchise caliber player. Just what they have been looking for.
Jim Nox: Kevin Penny - CB Knows what it takes to achieve success at any level. Sportsmanship, love of the sport and respect, is what you get with him. Might not be what fans want, but there is a reason people are getting paid to make these decisions. This is a rock solid pick, and he fits what they are looking for. Fans will come around quickly once they see him play.
Pick 6: Nova Scotia Sharks Larry Moore: Edmond Evans - G He is fundamentally a good kid. You rarely see him commit stupid penalties. Well liked in the locker room. Displays nice technique when blocking on pass plays. Keeps his balance and buys time for the quarterback. Works well in the classroom. With this kid, this is a need pick they will not regret.
Jim Nox: Marvin Scott - LB Need a leader? He is your guy. He helps everyone get in the right position, making the team run as a well oiled machine. So fast. You could drop him into coverage if you wanted. If you miss your block on this guy, he will be in the face of the QB before he has even finished dropping back. Coaches like his instincts. He addresses a need for them.
Pick 7: Toronto North Larry Moore: Justin Richard - T This kid is already a pretty good blocker in the running game. He will only get better as he refines his technique. Nice instincts. Blue-chip player. Exactly what they look for. Add a young talent to a roster thin at the position, a great fit.
Jim Nox: Jackie McClelland - FS He has been trained well, and it shows in the way he tackles. great technique. Fast learner. He will get a great chance to earn the starting job. He fits what they are looking for. He is a solid player. Cannot go wrong here.
Pick 8: Seattle Totems Larry Moore: Jackie McClelland - FS Reliably takes down ball carrier when he gets his hands on him. Smart player. Good understanding of how plays develop, and where to be. Fits the bill, great quality pick, and fills a soft spot on the roster. They should have no qualms here, run to the podium and get your man.
Jim Nox: Michael Canada - DE Fill the need with a quality player. Best case scenario here.
Pick 9: Windsor Gamblers Larry Moore: David Lucero - DT Here is a kid who no one doubts will put in the work. Good understanding of the game, and what is required of each position. Nothing to think about here. Pick up the kid, bring him into the building, put him om the field.
Jim Nox: David Lucero - DT This guy understands what it means to be a pro. You do not need to tell him things twice. Very quick learner. They would be crazy not to take him here. A great fit, both in terms of what they need and the quality of player they get. This will put a smile on many faces.
Pick 10: New Orleans Reapers Larry Moore: Richard Wyatt - G Rarely do a player this young bench pres this much. This kind of physical foundation given him an incredible ceiling. Do not be afraid to draft a position of need here. This kid is well worthy of a pick this early. Perfect situation for him, and great fit for the team.
Jim Nox: Dean Johnson - G He plays well with others. He understands there is a reason for each assignment on every play. Not the strongest we have seen, but definitely strong enough to hold his own. His pass blocking skills is something teams like about him. Pretty fast learner. It is not often that the talent available fits perfectly with what you need. When it does, it makes for a win-win situation. This young man is going to be put in a position to succeed.
