Head coach Shawn Merchant runs a tight ship in Windsor. I feel certain he has prepared an excellent gameplan. He is has a really good understanding of what works offensively. It may even be a blow out.

Bears QB's Tenuous Contract Situation Comes to a Head

News broke today after the Bears' midweek practice that backup QB William Mena received the majority of first team reps and that superstar starting QB wasn’t even suited up for the session. When asked about the situation, HC Ellsworth Robinson referred the media to GM John Cobb. Cobb offered, “We don’t like negotiating in the media, but Joe’s representation doesn’t live by that same ethos. We’ve been offering terms for various contract extensions throughout the season, but we’ve reached the stage where Joe’s reps are leaking details and just trying to force us into negotiating against ourselves. We won’t engage in that any further.” League sources indicate West was quietly being shopped prior to the trade deadline, but was pulled off the block when an extension seemed imminent. When pressed further Cobb appeared to confirm the majority of those rumors. Cobb said, “Again, we don’t do these things in the media for a reason, but these things tend to get out and if you dig a bit you can figure out where this stuff comes from. We weren’t shopping Joe; we were doing due diligence. Nothing serious ever came out of those talks, but Joe’s reps conveniently chose that time frame to give us indications that a deal was a lot closer to being sealed than what ultimately played out. Negotiations don’t work if “good faith” doesn’t mean something to both parties.” No indication has been given if this is a temporary change or a likely precursor to a full blown divorce in the offseason, but for now the team is prepared to go forward with Mena getting a full audition the rest of the way.

Hardee delighted after RoughRiders victory.

Michael Hardee was pretty blunt in his postgame interview after the RoughRiders's win. 'That was a pretty poor showing on their part' said the Michael Hardee - T RoughRiders. Bradley Cheatham compares himself to Gamblers' John Dasilva

When talking to reporters, at a galla event, CB Bradley Cheatham made clear that he does not think John Dasilva is 'all that'. The Sharks CB said: 'Is he good? sure. Am I better? No question. I would wipe the floor with him any day'. Bradley Cheatham brings up John Dasilva every chance he gets, it seems. 'Is he faster than me? nah. Look at the tape, once the pads come on he slows down. Sure, he is good and he may even be as good as me some day.' The Sharks CB said. Certainly such words will set the internet forums on fire, and it will be interesting to see if John Dasilva takes the bait and responds.

They might even win with three touchdowns.

Darren Francis : Toronto North
Head coach John Donovan does a great job getting them prepared every week. This week will be no different. He is running an explosive defense.

Infighting plagues the Bears.

It is no longer a secret. We all suspected that the Bears locker room is fractioning. In particular two players have been on collision course according to an anonymous player on the team who said: 'I do not know what is up with James Lumpkin and Phillip Simon. They have been going at it for a while now. The rest of us are worried.'. Phillip Simon - WR alledgedly tried to punch James Lumpkin - LB during training, claiming that Lumpkin had punched him first. The Bears have really strong team play. You look at a player like Andrew Taylor - CB and what he does for a team. He makes everyone around him better.

Moore and Nox Mock Draft

Pick 1: New Orleans Reapers
Larry Moore: Randy Bowling - LB
Tackles with good technique. Love his strength. He can play everywhere on the line. It is no coincidence he has attracted a lot of attention. Great first step. Defensive Ends with this speed tend to go high. The obvious reason is that teams love to get this kind of immediate pressure off the edge. Fill the need with a quality player. Best case scenario here.

Jim Nox: Randy Bowling - LB
Reliably takes down ball carrier when he gets his hands on him. This guy is pure muscle. He will shed blocks and hit he hole on run plays. He closes so fast. Offensive tackles will learn that the hard way. It is not often that the talent available fits perfectly with what you need. When it does, it makes for a win-win situation. This young man is going to be put in a position to succeed.

Pick 2: Memphis Pharaohs
Larry Moore: Eric Polk - T
Scouts love his understanding for opening running lanes in the running game. Bright kid, reacts well on the field. They need players at the position, and good ones at that. He fits the bill, he is worth the pick. End of story.

Jim Nox: Eric Polk - T
Scouts love his understanding for opening running lanes in the running game. Shows good understanding of his assignments on the field. The stars align for them to get him here. Just what they need. Blue-chip player with great upside. Hard to botch this pick.

Pick 3: Toronto North
Larry Moore: Christopher Torres - CB
Sportsmanship, love of the sport and respect, is what you get with him. Well liked in the locker room. Pretty good straight line speed. Will keep up with most receivers. Good instincts. He can do what they want. He will deliver results early. He fits a need. End of story.

Jim Nox: Christopher Torres - CB
He is fundamentally a good kid. You rarely see him commit stupid penalties. This is a kid who really contributes to the team spirit and the social cohesiveness on the team. Speedy enough to cover. Will need to cushion a bit on the faster receivers, but they will account for that in the play design. Bright kid, reacts well on the field. Nothing to think about here. Pick up the kid, bring him into the building, put him om the field.

Pick 4: BCFC Bears
Larry Moore: Benny Fitch - CB
If you look at his tape again, you can see he reacts quickly on the field. People always say you should not prioritize needs over quality. That is not an issue here, they get to have their cake and eat it too.

Jim Nox: Benny Fitch - CB
Nice instincts. He addresses a need for them.

Pick 5: Seattle Totems
Larry Moore: Seth Kasper - SS
Some of the assignments you will get at the position requires speed. This guy has it. You cannot coach speed. That is why guys like him are valued highly. Makes good tackles. Smart player. Good understanding of how plays develop, and where to be. They need players at the position, and good ones at that. He fits the bill, he is worth the pick. End of story.

Jim Nox: Seth Kasper - SS
Comes down from his safety position at blazing speed on blitzes. Runs well in coverage, even when required to run with faster receivers. Consistently takes down ball carrier when he gets to him. Scouts highlight the intelligent decisions he makes on the field. They gotta be happy to get this guy. Such a talent and he fits their needs. I would imagine the war room is celebrating when they make this pick.

Pick 6: Windsor Gamblers
Larry Moore: Anthony Morton - WR
His good natured behavior, even toward opponents have earned him some criticism, but also an awful lot of respect. He takes care of his teammates. Most everyone who ever played with him, counts him as their friend. When you watch him you rarely see him drop the ball. Has the elusiveness and the ability to change direction smoothly to punish any lapse in attention from the defense. Good understanding of the game, and what is required of each position. Fans might not be on board with what can be framed as a need pick. But trust me once they see this kid play, they will be more than happy.

Jim Nox: Ellis Malloy - CB
Speedy enough to cover. Will need to cushion a bit on the faster receivers, but they will account for that in the play design. Fans, coaches, and teammates alike will be ecstatic to get him on the team. He fits what they need, he is such a great talent. Everything lines up.

Pick 7: Houston RoughRiders
Larry Moore: Jerry Mitchell - LB
Definitely good strength for a Defensive End. Will shed blocks and occasionally bull rush smaller opponents. People watching his tape often do not notice his speed. It is not something that jumps out at you, but he is pretty fast. They will be happy to get him, they could use an upgrade at the position, and he certainly fits the bill. A franchise caliber player. Just what they have been looking for.

Jim Nox: Jerry Mitchell - LB
Strong enough to flatten smaller blockers. And strong enough to not be flattened by the bigger ones. Will never become a speed rush specialist, but has sufficient speed to become a prototype Defensive End. Solid talent that fits their needs. Really that is all there is to it. Perfect situation. Take the money and run.

Pick 8: Nova Scotia Sharks
Larry Moore: Alberto Hardy - DE
This is the kind of kid you want to promote the game. Well behaved, loves the game, and respectful. Known among his teammates as a bit of a goofball, but never in a bad way. The kind that keeps spirits high even when a season goes south. Offenses will need to keep tabs on him. He will close down fairly quickly if left unblocked. Do not fret. You need him, fans love him. Surefire pick.

Jim Nox: Alberto Hardy - DE
He is fundamentally a good kid. You rarely see him commit stupid penalties. Well liked in the locker room. People watching his tape often do not notice his speed. It is not something that jumps out at you, but he is pretty fast. They will be happy to get him, they could use an upgrade at the position, and he certainly fits the bill. A franchise caliber player. Just what they have been looking for.

Pick 9: New Orleans Reapers
Larry Moore: Joe Mayberry - DT
Due to his work ethic, this kid is very coachable. This is the kind of kid you want to promote the game. Well behaved, loves the game, and respectful. Here you have a guy, who really benefits the atmosphere in the building. Everyone wants to be around him. You will see him make a lot of tackles. They need players at the position, and good ones at that. He fits the bill, he is worth the pick. End of story.

Jim Nox: Joe Mayberry - DT
His college coaches talk highly of his work ethic. This is the kind of kid you want to promote the game. Well behaved, loves the game, and respectful. This is a kid who really contributes to the team spirit and the social cohesiveness on the team. Goes nice and low on tackles. With this kid, this is a need pick they will not regret.

Pick 10: Memphis Pharaohs
Larry Moore: Joe Cruz - LB
Can bull rush smaller Tight Ends and Fullbacks when blitzing. Coaches love this kind on their Linebackers. More than enough speed for the position. This will become evident as he develops. Shows good understanding of his assignments on the field. Do not fret. You need him, fans love him. Surefire pick.

Jim Nox: Joe Cruz - LB
Love his strength. He can play everywhere on the line. It is no coincidence he has attracted a lot of attention. You need to stay on him, or he will turn the edge on you. Teams want Defensive Ends that keep Offensive Tackles honest. Understands the game well. Knows what to do in different situations. Rock solid player is just what they need. A great fit here, both in terms of need and quality.
