NEW YORK -- The Houston RoughRiders' RB was a landslide winner Friday in balloting by a nationwide panel of 50 sports writers and broadcasters who cover the league. Suarez won the MVP award by amassing season totals of 352 att, 1777 yds, 12 TD, 9 rec, 164 yds, 1 TD.

"I'm honored to receive this award because of the number of other worthy candidates who had some great years," Suarez said. "It was just fun for me, truly, to watch them. I'm just glad to be a part of it."

RB Bruce Suarez (HRR) wins Offensive Player of the Year!

NEW YORK -- That blur speeding away from opposing defenses and running off with the Wolverine Studios Sports Network 1997 Offensive Player of the Year award is Bruce Suarez. Considered one of the fastest men in pro football, Suarez was uncatchable in racking up 1777 rushing yards on the season.

That earned the back 38 1/2 votes Wednesday from a nationwide panel of 50 sports writers and broadcasters who cover the league.

"I kind of realize what I did and I feel like I had a dream season," said Suarez, who scored 12 touchdowns.

LB David Croteau (BCFC) wins Defensive Player of the Year!

NEW YORK -- In his own view, David Croteau put together his best professional season in 1997. How appropriate, then, that he is the Wolverine Studios Sports Newtwork 1997 Defensive Player of the Year.

The versatile Croteau had 103 tackles, 13 sacks, 1 interceptions, and 2 forced fumbles with 0 defensive touchdowns, and was a key to the Bears' turnaround on defense. His role on the defense earned Croteau a majority of votes Tuesday from a nationwide panel of 50 sports writers and broadcasters who cover the league.
