For this game, I think we need to recognize that Clyde Hunter - DT is the guy to watch, this man is pivotal to the RoughRiders defense. Can't lose.

Mary Moore : Seattle Totems
Head coach Douglas Sharp has this team running like a well oiled machine. Defensively he makes great adjustments. This will be watercooler talk on monday. Do not miss it.

The better team wins. The RoughRiders are the better team. No argument.

Game of the Week: Memphis Pharaohs at Edmonton Herd

Our Expert Predictions:

Jeremy Piper : Edmonton Herd
For this game, you would be a fool not to think Percy White - T needs to show up, but if he does the Herd will be putting up points. Expect a great game.

Mary Moore : Edmonton Herd
They have a dominant offense. They do not get enough credit for that. They are 2nd in the league passing touchdowns with 23. They are 2nd in the league passing yards per game. They average 253.4! They are maulers, 1st in the league in pancakes. They are 3rd in the league average yards per rush. They are 2nd in the league points scored per game. They average 21.4! A close win.

Jim Nox : Memphis Pharaohs
When you consider the two rosters, you can make the argument that the Pharaohs is going to rely on Edmundo Sides - LB on their defense. Big names make big plays in big games, I cannot wait to watch this. This may be where we see their true colors.

Darren Francis : Edmonton Herd
I just have this gut feeling. It might be a high scoring game.

Defense dominates in BCFC.

The Bears defensive line is running rough shod against offensive lines so far this season with a total of 41 sacks, 6 forced fumbles and 104 tackles in 12 games.

I love what they are doing in Houston coaching-wise. Head coach Justin Harris is a major reason they will win this game. Offensively he is a great and innovative thinker. He preperation is impeccable.

Jim Nox : Houston RoughRiders
Looking at how the teams match up, I see that Robert Cheek - DE will be a key player to watch. His paycheck is a good indication of the kind of player he is. The way they win this game will tell a lot about what they are as a team.

Darren Francis : Houston RoughRiders
The RoughRiders are for real!

Davis watch

Out of Seattle, we have the usual reports about Francisco Davis, the WR. Surely, this in not the kind of story the Totems want to have to deal with. 'We want to focus on football. Having to deal with all the stories coming out about Totems takes away from that', said an anonymous source in the front office.

Game of the Week: Edmonton Herd at BCFC Bears

Our Expert Predictions:

Jeremy Piper : Edmonton Herd
Looking at how the teams match up, I think a good bet is that they will struggle with containing players like Thomas Oswald - LB. Expect him to show up in a big way.

Mary Moore : Edmonton Herd
They field one of the most underestimated offenses. They are 2nd in the league passing touchdowns with 18. They are 3rd in the league passing yards per game. They average 248.3! They are maulers, 1st in the league in pancakes. They are 4th in the league average yards per rush.

Jim Nox : BCFC Bears
When you consider the two rosters, I see that Keith Flores - LB will shine for the Bears defense. They rely on him, and he will deliver. It may even be a blow out.

Darren Francis : BCFC Bears
It might be a high scoring game.

Fisher stirring trouble

Reports out of BCFC suggest that Alonso Fisher - G is angry about being monitored by coaches. Fisher claims he is being singled out, and that coaches are looking for an excuse to get rid of him. Game of the Week: Houston RoughRiders at Memphis Pharaohs

Our Expert Predictions:

Jeremy Piper : Houston RoughRiders
There will be a lot to dissect after this game.

Mary Moore : Houston RoughRiders
This is just what my gut tells me.

Jim Nox : Houston RoughRiders
Do not sleep on this offense. They are 2nd in the league pass completion percentage. They are 1st in the league passing touchdowns with 29. They are 1st in the league passing yards per game. They average 289.3! They are maulers, 2nd in the league in pancakes. They are 4th in the league average yards per rush. They are 1st in the league rushing touchdowns with 13. They are 3rd in the league rushing yards per game. They average 102! They are 1st in the league points scored per game. They average 33.3!

Darren Francis : Memphis Pharaohs
In the context of this game, I think a good bet is that Edmundo Sides - LB can take over a game. There is a reason they are paying him that much money. It may even be a blow out.

Pharaohs - 19, Totems - 12

Game of the Week: Houston RoughRiders at New Orleans Reapers

Our Expert Predictions:

Jeremy Piper : New Orleans Reapers
Looking at the two rosters, my line of thinking is that Kyle Brandt - CB is bound to have an impact. The offense will have to gameplan for him if they want to stand even the slightest chance. And you can take that with you to the bank.

Mary Moore : Houston RoughRiders
I find it hard to bet against coach Justin Harris. He always has them well prepared. Offensively he is a great and innovative thinker. The way he prepares gives them an advantage in any game.

Jim Nox : Houston RoughRiders
I do not think their defense gets enough credit. They are 1st in points allowed, averaging only 10.4. They are 1st in pass defense. They only give up 188.9 per game. They are 3rd in run defense. Giving up only 72.9 yards per game. They are 1st in interceptions with 7. They are 4th in the league in tackles for loss. This will either be wildly entertaining or a dull grind. I see no middle between the two.

Darren Francis : Houston RoughRiders
Just win baby.

Rickard report

North have confirmed that they have made Ronald Rickard - QB available for federal investigators. With the off field issues of Ronald Rickard - QB boiling up again one has to wonder how long of a leash he has with the North. Sources say QB Rickard blames Canada for early struggles

Local sources in Toronto are reporting that QB Ronald Rickard is blaming Canada for last season's infamous 0 for 28 passing performance. It all started when Rickard drove from West Point, NY to Toronto prior to the 1987 season.. Rickard told his inner circle that he experienced culture shock when his firearm was confiscated at the border and the local Mountie simply responded with "sorry, eh". The incident rattled Rickard for weeks as he attempted to get settled in a new country. The army veteran then met with Canadian military officials and was surprised that the entire platoon in Toronto was playing a hockey tournament with a piece of frozen horse turd instead of a hockey puck. Rickard's confusion with his new country led to depression as he prepared to play his first BFL game. After a dismissal performance, Rickard almost quit football. Rickard decided to make the commitment to his new country and spend the entire offseason in the Canadian wilderness. It appears that Rickard is attempting to embrace his new country and has been in a better spot mentally this year after breathing that fresh Canadian air.

Game of the Week: Edmonton Herd at Houston RoughRiders

Our Expert Predictions:

Jeremy Piper : Houston RoughRiders
But it will be much closer than many think..

Darren Francis : Edmonton Herd
I think their defense will carry them. They are 2nd in points allowed, averaging only 15. They are 2nd in pass defense. They only give up 201.6 per game. They are 1st in run defense. Giving up only 58 yards per game. They are 3rd in the league in tackles for loss. They are 4th in forced fumbles. A tough choice. I think it will be a close game.

Game of the Week: Memphis Pharaohs at Houston RoughRiders

Our Expert Predictions:

Jeremy Piper : Houston RoughRiders
Head coach Justin Harris puts them over the top in this game. He is has a really good understanding of what works offensively. He preperation is impeccable. This may be a pivotal game for their season.

Mary Moore : Houston RoughRiders
Looking at the two rosters, I sense that Philip Lofton - G is going to wreck dominate for the RoughRiders offense.

Jim Nox : Memphis Pharaohs
If they lose this one, I will never hear the end of it.

Darren Francis : Memphis Pharaohs
I think their defense will carry them. They are 3rd in pass defense. They only give up 223.8 per game. They are 3rd in interceptions with 4. They are 5th in the league in tackles for loss. They are 5th in forced fumbles.

Top receiver trio?

The RoughRiders trio of Corey Flournoy - WR, Wiley George - WR and Roy Good - TE are currently the leading trio of pass catchers in the league, with 1173 receiving yards between the three.

McCallister still having red flags

A person familiar with the Totems says that they are increasingly worries about the off field red flags of Aldo McCallister - SS. Aldo McCallister has had trouble with the law earlier in his career, and has been unable to distance himself from bad influences off the field. This has the characteristics of an ongoing headache for the Totems.

Our Expert Predictions:

Jeremy Piper : Houston RoughRiders
For this game, it seems obvious that Robert Cheek - DE has to potential to carry the RoughRiders defense.

Mary Moore : Seattle Totems
This game will be so very entertaining.

Jim Nox : Houston RoughRiders
In the context of this game, my prediction is that Robert Cheek - DE will be a key figure in this game. Do not sleep on this guy's ability.

Darren Francis : Seattle Totems
They will rely on their offense to pull them through. They are maulers, 3rd in the league in pancakes. They are 5th in the league in passes of more than 20 yards. They are 3rd in the league average yards per rush. They are 2nd in the league rushing touchdowns with 4. They are 1st in the league rushing yards per game. They average 108.8! Game of the Week: BCFC Bears at Houston RoughRiders

Our Expert Predictions:

Jeremy Piper : Houston RoughRiders
In this game, you would be a fool not to think Robert Cheek - DE is a guy who will carry a game. He is getting paid a lot of money to carry games. But it will be much closer than many think..

Mary Moore : Houston RoughRiders
Of course the RoughRiders win. Have you been living under a rock?

Jim Nox : Houston RoughRiders
I do not think people realize how good this defense is. They are 1st in sacks with 14. They are 1st in points allowed, averaging only 12.7. They are 5th in pass defense. They only give up 221 per game. They are 2nd in interceptions with 2.

Game of the Week: Houston RoughRiders at Edmonton Herd

Our Expert Predictions:

Jeremy Piper : Edmonton Herd
Looking at how the teams match up, I do not think there is any doubt that Glen Pruett - DT is a guy who will carry the game. I think he will do so this week as well. I am really on the fence for this one, but I stand my prediction.

Mary Moore : Edmonton Herd
They might even blow them out.

Jim Nox : Edmonton Herd
They have a dominant offense. They do not get enough credit for that. A close win.

Darren Francis : Edmonton Herd
They will increase their winstreak to two this week. This should be some good football.

Week 2: QB David Reyes (HRR) wins Offensive Player of the Week

DT Rory Ng (NOR) goes #1 overall!

NEW YORK -- The New Orleans Reapers drafted Rory Ng #1 overall in the 1988 draft. The 6' 4" DT fits the team's needs perfectly. Said Reapers general manager: "It's up to us to develop him and get good players around him."

"The great thing about the game of football is, it's a team game," Ng said on a conference call. "I'm just going to be one piece of the puzzle."

Moore and Nox Mock Draft

Pick 1: New Orleans Reapers
Larry Moore: Brice Honeycutt - SS
This young man has more than enough speed for the position. Good instincts. They get undisputed quality with this pick. It might not fill a need, but they should not care about that here. Get the future star, worry about needs later.

Jim Nox: Miquel Lopez - CB
The kind of leadership he shows makes coaches salivate. I want this kid on my team. He understands his role on the field, and how it fits in with what everyone else is doing. Sportsmanship, love of the sport and respect, is what you get with him. He is so fast. Get him. Put him on the WR1 every week. He will run with the best of them. Great fit for what they want to do. Strictly speaking they do not need him, but they will sure be better with him on the field.

Pick 2: BCFC Bears
Larry Moore: Miquel Lopez - CB
Need a leader? He is your guy. This kid breeds synergy, teams play better when he is on the field. This is the kind of kid you want to promote the game. Well behaved, loves the game, and respectful. Has the speed to allow his coaches to get creative with other players. This kid will hold his own. Solid talent that fits their needs. Really that is all there is to it. Perfect situation. Take the money and run.

Jim Nox: James Bearden - CB
Sportsmanship, love of the sport and respect, is what you get with him. Well liked in the locker room. Has the speed to stay close to his man. While not elite, he has enough speed that you can do a lot of different things with him. If you look at his tape again, you can see he reacts quickly on the field. Take the blue-chip player. Do not worry about sexier picks. He fits what you need and the quality is there.

Pick 3: Memphis Pharaohs
Larry Moore: Rory Ng - DT
Teammates look to him for leadership, and he consistently delivers. Knows what it takes to achieve success at any level. Raised to know the value of teamwork. This youngster simply cannot be moved. He is so strong. Good luck trying to block him on running plays. Pretty good tackling fundamentals. That is something coaches love. Wonderful situation for them to be able to pick the best player available here.

Jim Nox: Rory Ng - DT
The kind of leadership he shows makes coaches salivate. Known for showing up early and staying late. This kid breeds synergy, teams play better when he is on the field. What most people fall in love with is his strength. He will hold the middle, forcing runs outside. Additionally, he can mount a forceful bull rush and collapse the pocket on passing downs. Tackles with nice fundamentals. People usually go down. I do not think there is a team that would not love to have him on their roster. Solid talent here. Just make the pick.

Pick 4: Windsor Gamblers
Larry Moore: Bill Nicholas - G
Known for helping out teammates, if they hit a rough patch, whether it is on the field or in their personal lives. He will occasionally throw of defenders to the ground when blocking them. He is a smart kid, and it shows when he plays. I love this guy, and fans will too.

Larry Moore: Booker Tucker - FS
Solid tackler. If you want to win, you have to get players like this kid. Make the pick and watch as teams below you frown.

Pick 6: Toronto North
Larry Moore: Donald Minor - LB
This kid puts in the work. Sportsmanship, love of the sport and respect, is what you get with him. Love his strength. He can play everywhere on the line. It is no coincidence he has attracted a lot of attention. Fans, coaches, and teammates alike will be ecstatic to get him on the team. He fits what they need, he is such a great talent. Everything lines up.

Jim Nox: Terrence Brown - LB
Football is a team sport, and he knows it. He is driven by the love of the sport. Scouts all say his speed is not a problem, he plays way faster than his forty time. Fill a need, get a quality player, everyone wins! He will fit right in with the pros.

Pick 7: Edmonton Herd
Larry Moore: Richard Mata - QB
This is a player who takes the lead. He reads the field well. He has good throwing mechanics. Delivers with zip. I do not think there is a team that would not love to have him on their roster. Solid talent here. Just make the pick.

Jim Nox: Daniel Murphy - SS
All you need from him is to be fast enough to the line against the run and fast enough to get to the sideline from his deepzone against the pass. Coaches like guys who tackle well. Smart player. Good understanding of how plays develop, and where to be. Hard to pass on a player of this caliber.

Pick 8: Houston RoughRiders
Larry Moore: James Bearden - CB
Respected for his good behavior on the field. Known among his teammates as a bit of a goofball, but never in a bad way. The kind that keeps spirits high even when a season goes south. Speedy enough to cover. Will need to cushion a bit on the faster receivers, but they will account for that in the play design. Pretty bright kid. He fills a need for them. Great pick here.
